About 50% of mental health and wellbeing issues begin in school-age children from 5 – 14 years of age, with psychosocial distress, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression, behavioural and neurodevelopmental disorders the most common across Australia. Hence, most classrooms have children with additional needs. It is not reasonable for teachers or school leaders to be experts on the many conditions, co-existing issues and family situations that impact on children and their learning. Psych4Schools aims to provide up-to-date practical support and expert knowledge. Resources are designed to support teachers, school leaders, psychologists and other professionals to work more effectively with primary and junior secondary students, parents and colleagues. Resources are also available to parents/carers. The best interests and wellbeing of the child is the primary focus of Psych4Schools.
